Check RC (Vehicle Registration) Details
Method 1: Visit vahan.parivahan.gov.in → "Know Your Vehicle Details" → Enter vehicle registration number → Solve captcha. Shows: Owner name, registration date, insurance validity, PUC validity, fuel type, engine/chassis number. Method 2: SMS "VAHAN <registration number>" to 7738299899. Method 3: mParivahan app.
Check DL (Driving Licence) Status
Visit sarathi.parivahan.gov.in → "Know Your Licence Details" → Enter DL number and date of birth. Shows: DL holder name, validity, vehicle classes authorized, status (valid/expired/suspended). Also shows if DL is linked to any traffic violations. Download digital DL from DigiLocker using Aadhaar.
Check and Pay Traffic Challans
Visit echallan.parivahan.gov.in → "Check Challan Status" → Enter vehicle number or DL number or challan number. Shows pending challans with offence details and amount. Pay online via net banking/UPI/debit card. Challans can also be checked on mParivahan app. Unpaid challans can cause issues at RC renewal or transfer.

Is digital DL on DigiLocker legally valid?
Yes. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways notified in October 2018 that DL and RC stored in DigiLocker are legally valid documents under Section 139A of the Motor Vehicles Act and the IT Act 2000. Traffic police must accept digital DL shown on phone. You do not need to carry physical DL if digital is available.
